Telephoto lens hoods have a cylindrical shape, are made of metal and have a screw thread on both the inside and outside of the hood. They are designed specifically for long-focus lenses with a focal length of 85 mm and higher. Telephoto hoods can be extended to ensure effective protection from scattered light for longer focal length lenses. The short hood is for focal lengths up to 85 mm or longer (when viewed from above). From about 135 mm you can also use the normal size hood.
